Is Hellovaview licenced and qualified to operate Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV’s) commercially ?

Yes, we are fully qualified UAV Pilots. This means we have completed all the necessary ground school training, written and practical examinations and written a comprehensive operations manual stating our emergency procedures, responsibilities, logs and risk assessment criteria.

We have been granted by CAA a Permit for Aerial Work (PFAW) after reviewing all certificates and operational documents.  All of our pilots have a remote pilot qualification RPQ-S or BNUC root enabling us to fly safely and legally operating UAVs.

Are you insured to do this work ?

Yes. We always operate within the guidelines stated in our Operations Manual.
We are fully insured up to £5 Million public liability with insure4drone.

Can you see what you are filming ?

Yes. There is a wireless video transmission from the UAV giving us a live viewer from the camera.

Can you fly indoors ?

Yes. In a large enough space. Our equipment has propeller guards attached for added safety during indoor flying. Operating indoors does not mean we are bound by the same rules and regulations laid down by the CAA; however insurance needs further discussion.

What are the weather restrictions ?

We cannot fly in rain or strong winds, especially when flying near obstacles such as trees. Even though we use a 3-axis camera stabilising gimbal, good weather makes good footage.

Can you fly above water ?

Yes. A lot of our work is produced around the coast, at sea or over large bodies of water such as lakes.

What are the height, range and speed of the UAV ?

Due to the restrictions placed on unmanned aerial systems by the CAA, we are only permitted to fly to a maximum height of 400 feet
(122 metres);
however, we can apply for extended heights if higher flying is required. We can also fly a maximum of 500 metres from the pilot's location, giving us a 1 kilometre radius and need a visual line of sight (VLOS) of the UAV at all times. We can also pilot from a moving vehicle to extend its range. Our equipment is capable of flying a lot further than 2 kilometres, but as laid down by the CAA we are restricted for safety reasons.

What is the flight duration ?

With one battery we can fly about 10 – 15 minutes depending of the weather. Changing the battery takes about 2 minutes. Spare batteries are always available so multiple flights can be carried out at any location.

Are UAVs a safe ?

We follow strict procedures that ensure maximum safety is sustained, but in the wrong hands or unsuitable environment a UAV can be very dangerous. There is always a small chance of mechanical or electrical failure; however, before every flight we assess and evaluate all aspects in detail. If the conditions are unsafe we maintain the right to postpone the flight until the environmental conditions improve or reschedule for another occasion.

What failsafes does your UAV have ?

Our UAVs have a built in failsafe procedure to ensure that the systems is as safe as possible during operation. This means if there is signal interference, transmitter failure or the pilot becomes incapacitated the Return to Home (RTH) function will automatically direct the UAV back to the takeoff location, land itself and shut down. The RTH function can be activated in case of an emergency. All ground crew will be briefed on how to activate the RTH failsafe.

What is the type of Camera ?

Type X3 Camera
Video: 4K @ 24-30 fps HD 1080p @ 24-60fps (MOV / MP4)
Photos: 12.4 Megapixels (DNG RAW + JPEG)
CMOS Sensor: 1/2.3 inch
Wide-angle Field of view: 94 degrees
3-axis, 360⁰ rotating gimbal

Can you control the camera from the ground ?

Yes. We can remotely control the camera's tilt and pan with full 360 degrees unobstructed view.

Can the wireless video from the UAV be used for live broadcast ?

Yes. We have a mini-HDMI output from the controller.

Do you rent out just the UAV ?

No. We only offer the full service. It comes with a pilot and a camera operator depending on the operation.

How much does aerial work cost ?

There are a lot of factors that determine the price for aerial work and each job is unique. Get in touch for a free quote.

Do you sell your photos ?

Yes. Most of the photos that you see in the galleries are available to buy either as a photo print (unframed) or as a canvas.
